Dr. Rachel Abrams is well educated and knows a thing or two about please. She graduated with honors from Stanford University, has an MD from the University of San Francisco and a master's in Holistic Health from UC Berkeley. She’s also the author of five books and one audio book, including Discovering Your Body's Intelligence For Lifelong Health and Healing, Eight Dates, Essential Conversations For A Lifetime Of Love, The Multi Orgasmic Woman, and The Multi Orgasmic Couple.
Dr. Rachel is the founder of the award winning Santa Cruz Integrative Medical Clinic, where she has treated everyone from CEOs, to billionaires to Nobel Prize winners and where she combines Chinese medicine with Western medicine. Instead of just putting a bandaid on the problem, which is Western medicine, she believes in also getting into the causes and conditions that caused the problem.
While reflecting on the impacts of the pandemic on the emotional health of Americans, Dr. Rachel reflects on the realities of the past, “It has been an increased stressful and anxiety producing situation for decades. For all people, and obviously, some more than others. We are number one in heart disease. We're the most anxious nation on the planet.”
When asked what was causing this level of widespread anxiety, Dr. Rachel points to income inequality and the prevalence of technology. When speaking to the impacts of so much screen time, Dr. Rachel explains, “There's a direct correlation between the amount of social media a young person is exposed to, and the amount of depression and anxiety that they have.” Is all technology bad? Far from it, Dr. Rachel opines, “If you're not comparing yourself to people online, it can be a positive influence.”
As a medical professional who spends so much time looking at the health and wellness of people in her practice, Dr. Rachel’s message encourages people to look at the way they are living so they can work towards living well and with pleasure.
